Frémiet was a sculptor, engraver, draughtsman and painter born in Paris in 1824 and dying therein 1910. He was a highly respected and successful ‘animalier’ and monumental sculptor who exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1843. He was a Grand Officer of The Légion d'honneur and is most famous for the gilded bronze statue of Jeanne d’Arc at the Place de Rivoli near the Louvre in Paris. His work is represented in the collections of the Musée d’Orsay and numerous other galleries and museums in Paris and throughout provincial France. Height: 28cm
