gonçalo alves cabinet

USD 0.00

An early Victorian period marble topped gonçalo alves glazed slim cabinet with its original tooled leather shelf trim c1840. The piece is attributed to Gillows of Lancaster and London largely due to the very specific beading to the doors and top but also by the use of gonçalo alves. Gillows used this timber from July 1823 until the mid 1860s. Whilst it was a cheaper timber option in their workbooks it is now much rarer to find than rosewood, the more expensive choice at the time. Dimensions: 101.5cm wide x 33.5 cm deep x 121.5cm tall.
