SOLD: A wonderful pen drawing of Josephine Baker by Jean Cocteau c1930. Josephine Baker was an American-born French dancer, singer and actress. Her career was centered primarily in Europe, mostly in her adopted France. She was the first black woman to star in a major motion picture in 1927. Jean Cocteau was born in 1889 and died in 1963. He was a French poet, playwright, novelist, designer, filmmaker, visual artist and critic. He was one of the foremost creatives of the surrealist, avant-garde, and Dadaist movements; and one of the most influential figures in early 20th-century art as a whole.
