SOLD ‘Le Retour de l’lle d’Elbe’ Oil on canvas dated 1927 by Louis Dussour. Louis Dussour was born in 1905, in Riom, dying there in 1986. He was a painter of figure compositions, religious subjects, landscapes, still lifes and murals. He studied at the regional art academy in Clermont-Ferrand and at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in the studios of Ernest Laurent and Paul Baudoin. In 1943, he was appointed head of the Clermont-Ferrand Academy and in 1949 of the school of decorative art in Nice. Work by Dussour was included in the collective exhibitions such as the 1937 Paris Exposition Internationale where he won a Gold Medal. He exhibited at the Société des Artistes Français, of which he was elected a Member, as well as the Salon d’Automne, the Salon des Tuileries and the Salon des Artistes Indépendants. The work has been professionally cleaned and has a glorious mellow gold frame and measures framed: 90cm wide x 73cm tall.
