A fine pair of George IV period Brazilian rosewood caned dining chairs c1820. Attributed to Gillows of Lancaster and London. Chairs of this pattern stamped by Gillows are illustrated by Stuart Stuart in her two volume book on the maker: Vol I pp 223. Ours bear the ‘journeyman’ stamp T.G. who was the specific maker of these chairs within the Gillows workshop.
