A superb signed Vasart art glass lamp c1960. The Ysart brothers who founded Vasart have such a fascinating history. Born in Spain they worked in the French glass industry until the First World War and then decamped to Scotland where skilled glass makers were in high demand following the loss of many industry specialists on the battle fields. Interestingly Vasart presented the then Princess Elizabeth with a suite of Vasart glass for her wedding to Prince Phillip in 1947 which probably is still in the Royal collection! The lamp is 28cm tall and has been rewired to Australian standards.
